Recovery means being Happy & Healthy
These testimonials have been provided by patients/clients who have received care at The Harbour.

Having worked with The Harbour for the past six months, I can honestly say they’ve been a lifeline in my eating disorder recovery. From the very beginning, I was met with genuine compassion, understanding, and care, which made all the difference during such a vulnerable time. They don’t just offer tools and guidance; they create a safe, supportive space where you feel seen, heard, and never alone. Being able to connect with others who truly understand what you’re going through has been incredibly powerful and healing. I truly credit The Harbour with helping me take meaningful steps toward recovery and for giving me hope when I needed it most. The impact they’ve had on my life is something I will carry with me, and I’m deeply grateful for everything they’ve done for me. – L.P.

A harbour is defined as a sheltered body of water where ships can safely dock, or a place of refuge. Name aside, I didn’t know what to expect. I am always scared to try new things, but this new thing happened to be one that was life changing-life saving. The Harbour is a place of comprehensive care and compassion. A place to safely dock from the harsh water of mental illness – an eating disorder. Urge surfing proves difficult, but having a place to seek safety is needed, especially given there once was that need with no land in sight. That felt impossible. Recovery is not easy, but it becomes possible when you don’t do it alone. So, don’t do it alone. You no longer have to. I chose to be brave and ended up getting my life back. Recovery is not all sunshine and rainbows, but I can function, I can see my friends, I have energy for my priorities and to live the life I want to live. I thought eating disorder treatment would just improve my relationship with food and my ability to nourish my body. I did not expect the work we do to help my other mental health concerns too – my core beliefs, lack of self compassion, intrusive thoughts, etc. I feel like a person again, and no longer someone just in the throes of mental chaos, with one crisis after the next. I feel like I don’t have to only fight for survival anymore. I feel like I get to live. – Kelly

The Harbour eating disorder recovery program has been one of the most helpful supports in my life. Having it so close to Western University makes recovery feel manageable while still being able to focus on school. During difficult times, The Harbour gave me something to look forward to. My appointments and the resources provided offered consistency and support when I needed it most. What stood out the most is how understood I felt. Unlike walk-in clinics or other therapists I’ve seen, this program is specifically designed for people struggling with eating disorders while in school. It was the first place where I truly felt heard. That specifically made a huge difference, it is the first place where I didn’t feel like I had to explain or justify my experience to be taken seriously. After years of struggling, The Harbour has been one of the most meaningful and effective resources in my recovery. I have a very difficult time imagining where I would be right now without the support I have been offered. – N.P.
